One of the things I’m most excited to begin sharing with our little reading village is a monthly look at new books arriving in the world.
Now, a small confession before we open the book crate. I’m starting a bit late for 2026, so these posts will be appearing a little higgledy-piggledy for the next few weeks while we catch up with the calendar. Once we’re all aligned with the current month, though, these release lists will arrive two weeks after each Hungry Hungry Wyrm Book Club post, like clockwork (hopefully).
These lists and descriptions are a cozy conglomeration gathered from booksellers, libraries, and other bookish corners of the book world. I've tried to pull titles across different genres, countries, original languages, and reader interests so that everyone wandering through the stacks might find something that sparks their curiosity.
January’s selections and descriptions come in part from lists shared by Bookshop.org, goodreads.com, bookriot.com, mrbsemporium.com, the authors' pages themselves, and other booksellers keeping a watchful eye on upcoming releases. Mr. B’s Emporium in particular has an incredible collection of themed lists that I found endlessly intriguing. I suspect I’ll be wandering back through their shelves for inspiration many times.
Of course, with the sheer number of books being published these days, it would be nearly impossible to capture every single release. If you know of a January release you’re excited about that isn’t listed here, please share it in the comments along with the author and what caught your attention. Book recommendations are far better when they travel reader to reader.
A quick note on content warnings: Since many of these books are new to me as well, I’m not able to provide specific trigger or content warnings. If that’s something you like to check before reading or sharing a book, I recommend doing a quick search to make sure the title is a good fit for you.
And now, without further ado…
Let’s see what January 2026 brought into the book world.
