HOW IT WORKS

Each full moon, we choose a featured book — or sometimes a shared theme — to explore together.

There’s no rush here. Read at your own pace throughout the month, then gather with us for a thoughtful, open-ended discussion. This book club is meant to be a sanctuary for the curious — a place for reflection, connection, and shared wonder rather than deadlines or pressure.

When we choose a theme instead of a specific title, you’re invited to select any book that loosely fits and share what drew you to it. Tell us why you chose it, what stayed with you, and how it met you in this season.

Monthly Feature: JULY
The Book Charmer by Karen Hawkins
For this month's Buck Moon gathering, I chose The Book Charmer by Karen Hawkins.

The practical reason is simple: it was already sitting on my shelf, patiently waiting its turn. But I was just as happy to discover that it lets me linger a little longer in this season's theme of books about books. Sometimes the perfect next read isn't the newest release or the one everyone else is talking about. Sometimes it's the one that's been quietly waiting on its shelf.

While our official 'Books About Books' month has come to a close, I'm not quite ready to leave stories filled with bookstores, libraries, and the quiet magic that lives between their shelves. As we gather beneath July's Buck Moon, a season traditionally associated with new antlers, quiet strength, and steady growth, I hope you'll choose a book that feels right for wherever you find yourself. You can always pick from the recommendations shared in last month's discussion, or simply follow your curiosity or your TBR toward a story that's been calling your name.Â

Read at whatever pace feels right to you. There’s no need to rush or finish by a certain date. I’ll be sharing my reflections in the next blog post on July's Buck Moon (July 29th), along with an announcement for our next selection/theme.

We have also begun ending each book club discussion with a Moonlit Question. I'd love for you to spend a little time thinking about this month's: If you could step into the world of any bookstore or library from fiction for just one evening, which would you choose...and do you think you'd ever want to leave?
